Career pathways

The Master of Electrical Engineering (Structure A) program gives a solid grounding for a career in electrical engineering, either in industry or in academia. The program focuses on research in one of the research areas in electrical power engineering such as, power system analysis, power quality, smart grid, renewable energy and sustainability,  as wells as, research areas in electronics and communication engineering, such as, microelectronics, photonic technologies, intelligent sensing and processing and wireless technology and application. The strengths of the program lies within the major engineering design experience; all-rounded curriculum; use of contemporary engineering design and modeling tools throughout the curriculum. On completion of the program, students have necessary skills for both research and development.

Thus, there are plenty of job opportunities available for graduates of the program to either work as an engineer in industry, namely, electrical power, electronics and telecommunication engineering, or in academia, as it offers a gateway to PhD studies. Our graduates have found employment in the industrial sectors as electrical engineer, project engineer, service engineer, supply planning engineer, electrical consultant and manager, as well as in academic sectors as lecturers.
